Lead | |

^ I was thinking more of olive oil, but I have an oil spray that has a mixture of grapeseed oil, jojoba oil, perppermint oil, and Rosemary essentioal oil. Is that too many oils? Plus i *hate* the minty smell of it? Should I just go w/ oilive oil and take this back to the store (health food store)??? PLease help.

This is what I mixed up into my relaxer creme:
15 oz Optimum Mild relaxer 2 tbsps. EFA oil 2 tbsps. Motions Oil Super Formula I have very coarse and resistant hair. Plain mild formula wasn't straightening my hair the way I wanted. HTH. Peace. |

What's the benefit of putting additional oil in a relaxer? I know Motions has one with oil in it.

toomanygrandkids is Motions oil super formula a type of oil you add to your optimum relaxer? or is the Optimum the oil. For some reason it sounds to me like you mix two relaxers?

Yes I mix a mild formula and super formula. The oil stops the burning that can occur during the relaxing process. I don't burn at all.
I got the idea of mixing relaxer strengths from this board. I tried it and liked the results and I've been mixing away ever since. The oil that I add to my relaxer concoction is Aphogee Essential Fatty Acids Oil Concentrate. I also use this for my deep conditioning as well. Hope I answered your question. Peace. |

I don't use super anymore b/c I color my hair. Mild is the only strength I can use on color-treated hair. But even the mild formula doesn't penetrate my new growth like it used to, so I had the super to give it a lil more uuumph. HTH. Peace.

Hey TooMany:
Now I get it......I had wondered how you were able to leave your relaxer on for 1+ hours if you were mixing super with it. But, I didn't realize that you were adding super to MILD and that you were only adding 2 TBSP of it at that. Now it makes perfect sense. My mixture is equal parts regular and super. Anything less and I am in underprocessed heaven! |

If I don't get any extra money to go to the salon for my next touch-up (Got my fingers crossed), I'm gonna mix some castor, almond, or grapeseed to my relaxer. Shucks, I may take some to the salon if I go. Is anyone still using oil in their relaxer, have u changed oil. C'mon ladies, spill the details.
