Anyone going for APL (arm-pit length)? |
Lead | |
|
Looks like most of everyone's goal is BSL (mine was too, until I saw that APL is more attainable first)? I was wondering if anyone is aiming for APL. I'm kind of in between shoulder and APL right now. I'm stretching my relaxer until May, taking vitamins (MSM, biotin, multi-vit), wearing protective styles, and following the C&G method. I'm hoping that by May I'll definitely be APL. Anyone else???

My hair is currently a little past BSL. I, too, am trying for APL or a little past it. I know it will take some time.

I am on that road to APL, right along with you, I am also aiming for more thickness, I am currently growing back hair from a bad touch up in or around nov of last year, had my last touch up after 13 weeks, it went well, I have 2 inches to reach APL,

Hey Kashieaw,
I was thinking about what you said and it is true that APL is closer to obtaining than BSL. I guess I never thought of that. Peace Out!

I hadn't thought of this either. I think this will be my goal too!
You ladies are always an inspiration. |

I'm glad I'm not alone! I guess we can make it an official challenge. Update here when you feel you've made progress.
I was having a breakage crisis, but I'm okay now. I did a strong Aphogee and it was still breaking, but I went ahead and moisturized for the night and today, I saw not breakage at all. I also PRAYED. So I'm once again confident in APL by May (at least by June). |

As always, you ladies are the best inspiration and motivation. I would love for it to be a challenge. Just to start it off I would have to say my hair is 10.5 inches long, which is pretty much at my shoulders. The cool thing though is that I havent had a relaxer in about 8 weeks, so it is probably longer

I'm currently @ SL and on a 6mths stretch hoping to reach APL when the stretch ends, if not then i'll settle to be full APL by December which is definately gonna happen if i continue with my current regime. My next goal ontoward will be BSL this i hope to reach by the end of next year or rather towards the end of next year like about AUG-SEPT so. Keeping my fingers crossed and fervrently praying

Hey lovely ladies! I know this isn't an official challenge but I'm up for it as well. I'm currently a little past shoulder length so it'll take some time but I'm glad I have you guys for support.
Peace Out!

Olcow,
I haven't been here in awhile but I just wanted to take the time to say that your hair has grown alot and looks very nice! I'd love to hear some of your secrets lol but back to the post at hand. From where do you ladies measure APL? Do you consider it APL if you reach the top of your AP, or when it hangs as low as your AP and covers them? I hope that makes sense lol. God Bless everyone Peace Out!

Hi,
It seems everyone considers APL to be right when your hair is even with your arm extended out, so I guess it would be at the bottom of your arm... I hope that makes sense... I have been using Boundless Tresses, It works really well at hair growth and thickens the hair... It can be found at www.growthspecifics.com ... HTH |

what is APL? I'm guessing it involves not relaxing, but still....what is it or what does it call for you to do?

When your hair length hits at arm pit length... APL

ohhh....now I feel really slow, lol...
do u have to do anything special to your hair? |

Nothing real special.... Right now my hair is rebelling, Not acting right for a long time... I will have to get a good trim and hope that will help... I
usually wash/deep condition once a week, CW once a week, roller set, never use blow dryers, curling irons, I do use a hooded dryer for my rollers sets, get a
touch-up every 7 to 8 weeks that is about it... Like I said my hair is a hot mess right now, but I hope to get it under control soon...

lol...ur hair is acting up like mine :-) My regime is almost the same...at the moment my hair has just got past the bottom of my neck. Once a week I wash it,
wrap it using setting lotion, and dry it under a hooded dryer. When its completely dry, I may go over it with a flat iron or I will roll it using hot rollers.
My hair is thick so I usually go the flat iron route.
I'm sure your hair will start acting right soon....Whats your main issue with your hair at the moment? |

IMO APL is one of the hardest lengths to attain. Look around at how many women of color have shoulder length hair. Getting over this hump is difficult because
your hair is constantly rubbing against your clothing. I'm trying to get to APL as well. Good luck ladies!
